Summer Vacation - Bear Lake

After Idaho we headed to Bear Lake for some fun filled days with my family.  It started off with lots of fun hellos and excitement...and some trips down memory lane.  We had a huge box of pictures from Grandma's house and I found this gem.  My handsome dad.

We also were excited to get out our quilt squares.  I had this crazy idea to make a family reunion quilt and, despite the fact that there weren't many experienced sewers in the bunch, everyone did such a great job!  It turned out great and I know its something I am going to cherish!  What a great family I have!

The next day we woke up bright and early to a yummy breakfast and then it was off to a beautiful Bear Lake beach.  This place was like heaven!  And we were with the best people....it was such a fun week.

Aunt Jana had brought a family reunion friend for the kids to take their pictures with doing certain activities.  My kids LOVED it!  Here Kate is buried in the sand with her friend.

Playing Bocce

Hugging a cousin

We stayed at a beautiful lodge with tons of room for everyone to spread out.  We enjoyed a night of s'mores by the fire

The next day Jana had even more fun activities with water balloons and squirt guns to play fun games like squirt Uncle Karl

Kate could NOT get enough of the tube.  Seriously, she could have spent all day on it.  And she rubbed her knuckles raw, just like I did on the tube as a kid!

Clara loved the boat but hated the lifejacket

But eventually decided to just take a nap

Sawyer liked the tube....a little.  But he enjoyed most of his time on the boat

Clara looking cute for family picture night

Which also corresponds with walk to get raspberry shakes night.  Yum!

On the boardwalk to the beach

Sandcastle building to earn a treat

Face planted in the sand but still smiling

Sawyer's favorite job on the boat

Until he got to drive with Uncle Karl.  He took the job very seriously.

And then it was over!  We had the best time with family.  It was a beautiful cabin and we had so much yummy food!  It was so well organized and everyone pitched in to help.  It was great to see Grandma Townsend and to enjoy everyone's company.  I didn't get any pictures, but we also had a great night of fun games thanks to Aunt Karen!  And of course a fun volleyball tournament.  Thank you to everyone for the fun!

After we headed out we headed to Jen's house for a night of rest before our drive to Tucson.  The kids had some fun in with water in the backyard before we ate pizza

Then we got some yummy and messy sno cones

And then we went to sleep.  Clara slept with me on an air mattress and she is the most rollie pollie girl in the world!  I was half awake all night long making sure she wasn't rolling off the bed.  Finally she rolled onto the fireplace (the very same one where Sawyer got his amazing set of stitches) and she was content to spend the rest of the night there.

And then we were off to Tucson!

Townsend Family Reunion - Bear Lake

After our fun with the Kissell family we headed to Bear Lake where another family reunion awaited us. The house we stayed at was so unique and pretty....and unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it! But it was an old store converted to a house that fit all 40+ of us. It was so fun seeing family! Growing up, our only family summer vacation was up to Grandma and Grandpa Townsend's house to play with our cousins for a week and it is one of my favorite childhood memories. Being all together kind of makes me feel like a kid again.
One of the main activities we did during our time together was play at the lake. The kids loved playing in the sand and, after some persuasion, they both took couple of turns on the tube and loved that too. Kate even got to help Uncle Karl drive the boat and she took it very seriously! Ryan took a few turns on the wakeboard and did well while I sat in the boat and watched. I was sad to miss out on wakeboarding but I guess cooking a baby is a good reason to be left out. We had really nice weather the whole time and it was fun hanging out with everyone on the beach.
