Awesome Cleaners

PhotobucketPhotobucket
A few weeks ago I was hanging out with some new friends and one girl asked everyone what we do when its 3:00 in the afternoon and our husband's aren't home and we're tired and our kids are cranky. Some people gave answers but I couldn't think of one at the time. The question stuck with me though and eventually I realized what I do. I tell my kids, "why don't you go clean your rooms?" And they do it! They head upstairs and keep themselves busy and I get to have a little alone time. I know if I would have told my friend that, she would have thought I was nuts. But her two girls are younger than mine and my kids seem to be at the perfect ages to do it. Kate gets so excited about cleaning and organizing her room and Sawyer follows whatever Kate is doing and excited about. This morning they were cleaning up and Kate kept running in to where I was cleaning bathrooms saying, "MOM, Sawyer is the best blanket folder! He made it a perfect square!" and "MOM, I was making my bed and Sawyer looked at it and said 'Awesome!!'" Pure joy.
In a related note, I am really liking my house. It is big and nice...but I have also found that has its drawbacks. Especially when it comes to cleaning. I feel like we have the same amount of stuff and we are making the same amount of messes, but I'm having a hard time keeping up with it all! It was so much easier in my 1500 square foot apartment. Back then I would have one big cleaning day where I would scrub and mop and dust and get it all done and then have one day where the entire house was clean and then tidy up until it was cleaning day the next week. I don't know if I have had one day where my entire house is clean at the same time here! But maybe that is okay too...I just need to get used to it. Anyone out there have any house cleaning tips for me?
In an unrelated note, I am missing my good camera lens! I'm having a hard time blogging because I don't like the pictures I'm getting. sigh...

1..2..3 babies!

Mom got us a Dyson for Christmas and I am totally in love! Since we've welcomed this new addition to our family, I've been on a cleaning spree...cleaning out my sewing table, hanging pictures that have been sitting in corners since we moved in and vacuuming! Who knew it could be so fun?
