Toothless Kate
Kate's 2 front teeth were getting really wiggly and, as much as I was sad to see her lose her baby teeth (and perfect baby teeth smile and just grow up period) once they started to get wiggly they were looking pretty icky. She was wiggling them on her own but then every night after I brushed and flossed her teeth, Daddy would take a turn wiggling them. He is the tooth pulling master and has pulled out all her teeth. As much as I like teeth, I don't think pulling teeth is for me. So on January 29 she was laying in his lap and then all of a sudden she sat up and it was gone! She didn't make a sound and all of a sudden she had a big grin on her face and it was gone.
Clara wanted in on the picture taking too
The next day we went to the temple and I took some picture of my one tooth Kate. She sure is beautiful!
Then the next week the same thing happened with the second one and it was gone too.
Now we have a toothless Kate!
Sawyer wanted some pictures taken too
One with a silly face
And Clara did not want to get her picture taken but I tried anyway

Sawyer's belt
Sawyer is one funny boy. He is so observant. He is one of those kids that wants to tell everyone everything about what is going on in his life...but he has picked up Kate's habit of not talking to anyone. Its a funny combination. But I have realized that at preschool, now that he is comfortable with his teachers, they hear everything. After my weekend at the dental convention in Boston his teacher asked, "are you a dental hygienist?" because Sawyer had told her all about it.
He also loves to tell me everything that is going on at school. He adores school and everything they do there. But sometimes I discover things slowly, over time.
One day Sawyer came home from school and said, "Mom, did you know that little kids can wear belts?"
I responded (probably halfway listening and doing something else with, "yes I did."
Sawyer: "Can you buy me a belt?"
Me (thinking that sounded like a complete waste of money): "probably not. They are just for if your pants are falling down."
The next day Sawyer came up to me and said, "Mom, my pants are falling down."
Me: "Sawyer! You don't need a belt!" (And I'm left wondering why the heck he wanted a belt at all!)
A few days later, Sawyer: "Mommy, my pants are really falling down. When are you going to buy me a belt?"
Me: "Sawyer, does one of your friends at school have a belt? I don't understand why you want one."
Sawyer: "Its in the song about what you are wearing and I want to wear a belt."
OHH, I see now.
The next day, running into my bedroom while I was still sleeping, with a huge smile on his face, "MOM!! Look what I found in Clara's room!! Its a belt! Can you put it on me today?!?"
And I looked at that lacy, frilly belt buckle belt and there was no way I could say no. So he wore it to school.
That day when I went to pick him up his teacher told me the first thing he did when he walked into school was show him her belt. And when they sang the song about what you are wearing (you stand up if you wear the thing they mention, dress, sweater, etc) that only Sawyer and his teacher got to stand up when they said belt and he looked like the happiest boy in the world.
So here he is in his cute, Clara belt.
And here he is with his new belt that I finally gave in and bought him
Sawyer really just cracks me up. It seems like there are lots of things like this that I slowly discover the real reason he is talking about something. One thing that is really funny that he does is he replaces words with different words with no hesitation at all. This Christmas he called egg nog "door knob" and he asked for a "turquoise" when he really meant to ask for a buckeye. He called chocolate chips "chicken nuggets". I can't think of any more right now, but it always makes us laugh.
And when I took these pictures I realized that we actually had the sun shining through our windows (pretty rare these short winter days in Vermont) so I took some more pictures.
Love these kids!

preschool
I taught preschool at our house this week and on Tuesday Ryan was home from work and Kate was home from school so we had a few extra hands! Because Ryan was home I told the mom's to bring snow gear for the kids so they could play outside while Clara and I stayed warm inside. I think Kate loved being a part of Sawyer's preschool for a day and she did everything we did.
