Cape Cod
Ryan had a week vacation and we wanted to make the most of it! We decided to explore Cape Cod for a few days.
There is just something about staying in a hotel that is so exciting for kids! And even better, our hotel had a wave pool with water slides! How cool is that? So that was the first thing we did as soon as we checked in.

Then we decided to head out and find a beach. We found a beautiful one to enjoy on a perfect evening.
Clara's first time in the ocean!
the kids had fun jumping off the lifeguard chair
After we got done at the beach, we headed into town to find a place to eat. On the way we found this lighthouse!
We drove by some gorgeous houses, covered in hydrangea. It was all just so perfect.
That night we ate at the Black Cat in Hyannis, a fun restaurant by the water.
Clara had fun waving to the lady behind her the entire time
Ryan got the fish and chips but the rest of us didn't get anything too special. Afterwards we took a walk by the water and looked at the boats. We were lucky and a clam boat had just pulled up and was unloading. The kids loved watching them unload the big boxes filled with giant clams.
The next day we headed to a beach on Brewster that had a natural lazy river, a slow moving river that flows into the ocean. It had beautiful sand and the kids loved playing in it and searching for creatures with Daddy.
Clara spent a lot of time sleeping
but she did play a little
After taking that last picture, I asked Kate to hand me my camera and she accidentally dropped it into the sand. It was only from a few inches off the ground...but my lens didn't survive. So the next pictures are from my phone!
Down the road from the beach was a fun place called Kate's ice cream and seafood. We just had to stop! We all got ice cream and Ryan wanted to try the fried clams. Remember the last time he had fried clams? He had a better experience this time! And the kids tried them and liked them too.

That night we spent some time at our fun hotel. We ordered pizza from the restaurant and ate it at a picnic table. Then they had a lady from a zoo come and show us some animals and we got to pet a skunk!

Then we roasted marshmallows by the fire pit

Clara swiped a graham cracker from the stack and was halfway done with it before I looked over at her. Do you see that look in her eye?!?...there was no way I could take it away from her!

The next morning we swam a little bit before checking out of our hotel

Then I headed to a camera store and bought a new lens! Yea! It was fun to talk photography and lenses with these knowledgeable old photographer men...even if I was in a huge hurry because my family was waiting in the car for me, ready to hit the beach! We stopped at a picnic table to eat a picnic lunch first (its a lot better than having sand in your sandwich!) I was enjoying my new lens...

Then we headed to the beach and this one was our favorite. It had bigger waves and the kids got to boogie board. The sand was also perfect and fun to play in. Clara spent a lot of time sleeping on top of me while I sat in my beach chair. Not a bad way to spend a day!

After the first beach, we were driving to the second beach when Ryan spotted the place he wanted to get his lobster!

Then we headed to the inside of the cape where we could see the sunset over the water

Then we loaded up the car and started our long ride home!
