Clara's 1st birthday party

We had a fun little birthday for our big one year old girl, the highlight of which was, of course, the smash cake!

At first she was excited

Then she was a little scared

Then she realized it was the happiest day of her life

big day for my girls

On Monday, March 12 Clara rolled over for the first time! Yea Clara!

Sawyer was hanging out downstairs and I was getting ready to put Clara down for a nap. She wasn't quite tired enough so I laid a blanket down on the floor and gave her some tummy time. She was so smiley and happy and I was enjoying some one on one time when all of a sudden she flipped! It was so surprising because she has kind of rocked to the side a little bit, slowly like she was about to roll over but then wouldn't. This was totally different and totally fast. It caught me off guard and made me laugh so hard! After she went down for her nap I told Sawyer she had rolled over and he couldn't wait for her to wake up to see it. When she finally did and after I nursed her, I laid her on a blanket on the floor of my bedroom (where Sawyer was playing) and then left to go switch the laundry. When I came back, she was on her back. I told Sawyer she had rolled over and he couldn't believe he missed it! Luckily I flipped her over and she did it a third time just for him. He couldn't wait to tell Kate about Clara's new trick when we picked her up from school. And then the next time I saw her teacher she said, "I hear Clara has a new trick!" I love how excited and proud my kids are about her.

After school on Monday we went to swim team for Kate and she moved up from the last lane to the next lane. She learned a new stroke with the bigger kids and I was so proud of her!

Afterwards I took them out for ice cream to celebrate!

On Wednesday when we went back to swim team so was back to being in the far lane but she was so brave (and gave me a huge surprise!) when she dove off the starting block for the first time! I think its because her little friend Margaret (who is 4) has no fear and was in line in front of her and did it first. But after the first time she did it a few more times! Its more of a belly flop than a dive and its the cutest thing I've ever seen! Go Kate!
(she is in the farthest lane, all in pink)

Clara's first time swimming

Last Saturday morning we met some friends at the aquatic center to swim. When we first moved here we were coming all the time to swim for fun, but now that Kate is in school we have less free time and most of our time at the aquatic center is doing lessons. Kate and Sawyer were so excited to swim with Clara so I dug out Kate's old swim suit. She was asleep when we first got there so the kids just played with Daddy until she woke up, ate and was ready to go

She didn't mind the water at all. She loves bath time and the pool water is pretty warm.

And then 5 minutes later she was done

But don't worry, after she got dried off and warmed up she was her happy self again.

We're excited to have Clara enjoy swimming with us and I'm sure her brother and sister will teach her how to be a little fish just like they are. Kate actually started swim team again this week. There were no tears, just a big fat smile! It is amazing how much growing she has done this year in Kindergarten. I sure love my swim babies!
