Interview Vacation Day 4

- Woke up bright and early and walked down to the lobby.
- DHMC, our potential future employer, has an onsite real estate agent who took us on a tour of the upper valley. She pointed out the different areas where we could live (but not specific houses) and shopping and restaurants. The tour was 2 hours long but was really informational if we end up moving there.
- Checked out of our hotel and had lunch at Three Tomatoes. Our tour guide pointed it out twice and it is right on the city green of Lebanon. Super yummy Italian pizzas!
- Ran over to Hanover (home of Dartmouth) to shop for souvenirs.
- Started the drive back to Boston a little later than we anticipated. We had thought we might try and pick up a couple cannoli at Mike's Pastry but we ran out of time.
- Enjoyed the scenic drive back to Boston. I asked Ryan if people who lived there took that view for granted. It is just too pretty.
- Returned our rental car and hustled to our gate.
- First flight to Atlanta was 3 hours and we were on the very last row! It was tight and loud.
- Very fast layover and then we were headed to Houston...but we realized it was Hobby instead of Bush, the airport we flew out of and where our car was waiting for us.
- Landed at Hobby and paid an airport shuttle to take us to Bush. The driver assured us that we weren't alone, this mistake happens often.
- Finally got our car
- Made it home and crashed in bed at 1 am

This trip was very informational and it was nice to have Ryan actually see the hospitals and get a feel for where he would like to be. He leaves for Washington, alone this time, for one or two more interviews and then it is decision time!!

Interview Vacation Day 3

- Woke up to the rolling hills of Lebanon, NH
- Ryan headed off to his interview. They were scheduled at 9:30 and 10:30 so I was expecting him home at noonish.
- I worked out at the fitness center, slowly got ready, waited a little bit for Ryan and then walked over to the gym that is behind our hotel and took a tour (it is really nice but holy hannah it was expensive!)
- When I got back to the hotel room I expected to see Ryan but he didn't come back until 2:30. He said the interview went well and he really liked the hospital and the people. I was starving to death so we headed out for lunch.
- Passed the shopping areas on our way to Panera Bread and decided I probably could handle living here....even without Target.
- Yummy Panera.
- Drove to Hanover to see Dartmouth College. It was a gorgeous campus.
- Saw the best view of the trip by the river at the New Hampshire/Vermont border
- Drove back to the hotel and took a little nap
- Ryan's friend who graduated from Baylor last year came and picked us up and we met some of the other CRNAs at a sushi place. (Luckily I wasn't too hungry because I had eaten Panera so late!)
- Ryan decided he actually likes sushi.
- I swallowed down a couple of fishless rolls with avacado. (I also don't like avacado.)
- As we drove back toward the hotel we called Kate and Sawyer and talked to them. They are having so much fun at our friend's houses. Sawyer listened to everything we said and gave a "yeah...yeah....yeah..." Kate was a little more talkative. I sure miss them!!
- We walked over to the grocery store that shares a parking lot with our hotel and picked up some ice cream. Ryan picked out Gifford's Maine Lobster Tracks and I got some Edy's.

Interview Vacation Day 2

- Woke up in our hotel to an alarm clock that wasn't Sawyer asking for Sesame Street.
- Ryan feels like a new man (thank goodness!!)
- Ryan headed off to the hospital
- I went for a jog around downtown Glens Falls, complete with false front brick buildings housing boutiques, yoga studios and a knitting shop, large trees with fall colors and fallen leaves crunching under my feet.
- I got ready slowly at the hotel. I felt lonely because I didn't have my phone to text my mom and sisters constantly like I usually do. The night before we found my phone in the cup holder of the car in a puddle of Sprite. In Ryan's sick state he accidentally left the cap off the Sprite and my phone is now caput.
- Around noon Ryan was done with his interview and came to change and pick me up. We checked out of the hotel and headed to lunch with some of the anesthesiologists at Cooper's Cave. They make their own sodas there and it was very yummy.
- We spent lunch talking about Glens Falls and it really does sound like a great place to raise a family and to do outdoorsy things.
- Headed out in the car and drove passed the shopping areas and found the LDS church
- On our way out of town we went north to Lake George. It was GORGEOUS. I took pictures and I'm sure they won't capture how gorgeous it was. Water dotted with sailboats surrounded by tree covered hills. The fall colors were gorgeous. The weather was gorgeous. I'm a big Lake George fan.
- Headed back towards Lebanon down the same road we traveled before, this time with day light. The road follows a gorgeous river that Ryan was dying to fly fish on. We passed lots of old churches in little towns and 2 covered bridges. We also passed some Vermont ski resorts.
- Pulled into Lebanon around dusk and checked into our hotel
- Walked over to a Mexican restaurant. It was 45 degrees and we were both freezing. We're going to have to be a little more prepared with coats and warm clothes if we move here!
- Spent the rest of the evening relaxing in the hotel, looking at maps and housing listings and watching Dancing with the Stars

Interview Vacation Day 1

- Leave Bush Airport early in the morning
- Can't shake the feeling that I'm forgetting something...my bag is not stuffed with snacks, crayons and DVD players.
- Spend the flight sleeping and doing Sudoku...and listening to the kid screaming behind me and missing my kids...a little.
- Short layover in Charlotte
- Flight to Boston
- Land and rent a car from Joe with a strong Boston accent. Welcome to Boston!
- Get slightly lost driving around the city and have to pay tolls back and forth.
- Park near Faneuil Hall
- Take a walk in the gorgeous weather down to the water front at the North End and decided to eat at the restaurant overlooking it.
- Yummy dinner. I ate French Onion Soup and Ryan had the Clam Chowder. Then I had nachos (because I'm that adventurous) and Ryan had the fried clams.
- After dinner we walked over to the Old North Church where Paul Revere did his lantern lighting for one if by land, two if by sea. It was dusk and closed so we just saw the outside.
- Walked back to our car through litle Italy. Fun buildings and restaurants.
- Got back to our car and paid $28 upon leaving our parking garage. Ryan nearly had a heart attack.
- Started to drive towards Glens Falls, NY
- Ran out of money at one of the toll booths (the parking garage was cash only and the all the tolls depleted my cash!) We learned that you can pay tolls in postage stamps. Who knew? Luckily I had just bought a big pack at Costco!
- Drove the 4.5 hours to Glens Falls, NY
- The scenery looked gorgeous along the way but it was too dark to see much...eeerily dark. and silent. I've been in Houston too long because I found it all very creepy.
- Pulled over and Ryan lost his clams.
- Continued driving. Passed a covered bridge, a gorgeous town called Woodstock in Vermont and an old church with beautiful stained glass windows that had the light on inside and was shining out. I can't wait for the drive back!
- Pulled over and Ryan lost the rest of his clams.
- Finally got into Glens Falls, checked into our hotel and I dragged my sick husband up to our room.
- Once we got into the hotel I decided to take a look around and find the fitness center. We are staying at the Queensbury Hotel built in 1927 and decorated accordingly. I decided it was probably haunted and way too creepy to wander by myself and ran back to our room.
- Fell into bed, exhausted.
