Back in the saddle again...

Photobucket
I was on my fun summer vacation when I got news that my apartment management company was going to be starting the Biggest Loser competition again. I got really excited because I had gained a pound or two since the competition had ended (especially since being on vacation!) Las time was seriously the best motivation I have ever had to lose weight and I was pumped to start again. Knowing it would be to my advantage to have a little more extra weight before the first weigh in, I began bulking up. I ate extra desserts, bought ice cream and made dessert treats and didn't work out for a week. I have never purposely bulked up before and, I don't like to brag, but I'm good at it!
But today is the day! I officially weigh in this morning. I'm actually really excited to get back into it....especially after eating like a pig for so long!
Here I go again! Wish me luck!

As requested

It was hard to get a picture of myself....that is why I have no head. But Kate thought it was the funnest game ever to watch me hit the camera button, walk fast to my spot and strike a pose.

In other news, there was a big baby shower today and I made some yummy cupcakes. I really like baking and frosting. I thought they were pretty cute...and way too yummy...and I forgot to take a picture of them on my new cupcake stand! Bummer! So this is all you get to see of my cupcakes...She liked them too...

The results are in....

After 3 months of dieting harder than I ever have before and exercising myself tired 6 days a week, my contest is finally over! I weighed in for the final time on Monday and I've been waiting all day for the results all day long...and I finally got them....

I got 2nd place!!!

I'm pretty proud of myself. The 1st place guy (yes, he was a guy...of course...) lost 29% of his body weight. 29% of his body weight! That is a whole heck a lot of weight! So way to go, Brian C from Monticeto...whoever you are....that is a big accomplishment!

I started this competition at 170. That is 5 lbs leftover from Kate, 10 lbs that stuck around after Sawyer and 6 lbs leftover from my Christmas holiday in Tucson, give or take a lb or two. I was ready for a change! I lost about 22 lbs of real weight and then lost 5 lbs in a day (I fasted from Saturday night to the weigh in on Monday) and I weighed in at 142.6! WAHOO!! That is 16.47%.

For anyone who knew me before Kate and Sawyer and my oh so yummy Christmas break, I probably just look like the Kristen that you knew and loved. I weigh what I did when I got married.

For anyone who didn't know me back then, hi, my name is Kristen and this is the real me and I plan on staying this way.

After that much dieting and then a day of starving, all I wanted was this:After a dinner of tacos. Both were very yummy.

But I've done a little too much "rewarding" myself the past few days and I want to go back to my old healthy eating habits. It really does make you feel good when you eat well.

This really has been a life changing thing for me. I've never successfully lost weight. I've gradually and "accidently" lost weight after having babies and such, but a diet has never worked. I think I've always looked at little eating changes (like when you stare a chocolate chip cookie in the face) and thought "maybe I shouldn't eat this....but if I don't eat this one cookie, its not going to make me lose 10 lbs...." so then I ate it.

Dieting is hard. It takes so much planning and discipline and thinking about it all the time. It is amazing to me how hard weight is to lose and how easy it is to gain. Especially when you just LOVE food.

I'm grateful I had such a fun extrinsic form of motivation to help me lose!

***I guess I forgot to say, 2nd place got 20% of the "pot"....$240! Wahoo!***********
