The Hope of America

Months ago I was asked at church by one of the missionaries from the Joseph Smith Memorial if I wanted my kids to participate in a celebration of veterans in June. I thought it sounded like fun so we signed up and took home a CD with 12 songs we were supposed to learn. We listened to the CD every now and then but, I have to be honest, the words to the songs were hard to learn even for me! I didn't have much faith Kate would be able to learn them. But she knew parts of most of them and we showed up that afternoon looking very patriotic in our red, white and blue. They held a practice for a few hours before where they taught the kids hand signals to go with the songs and then it was time to perform. There was also a band there and they honored one veteran from the area and did some other things. The kids were well behaved through the whole 90 minute program, sitting up on the stands in the sun. And it was cute to see them doing the little actions! Overall it was a gorgeous night just be outside and the whole performance was a great reminder of the sacrifice so many men and women have made and are making in the military! God Bless America!
