Occom pond party number 3....kind of

Three years ago when we moved to Vermont, one of the first things we did was go to the Occom Pond party. There was over two feet of snow and it was all new and exciting and very New England. We ice skated on the pond, rode in a horse drawn sleigh, ate sugar on snow for the first time, and fell in love with our new home. Now I think the pond party is what we will always use to measure how long we have lived here...and we just attended our third. Only it, because of Nemo (the scary blizzard that wasn't...at least for us) the party was actually postponed to Sunday. But we went anyway and we ice skated, roasted marshmallows, looked at the ice sculptures and slid down the ice slide. It was a great day. We missed the children's games and the sugar on snow, but we didn't miss the crowds. And it me simply a gorgeous, sunny day. Ice skating on the pond....this I kind of scary to see!  I know there were trucks with plows on it but falling through ice is a big fear of mine...and everyone I'm sure! Ice slide! Kate loved ice skating and didn't want to leave. She is begging to go again soon. Sawyer did lots better than last year but was still falling constantly. He was such a good sport about it though. And they both loved the slide! Clara was a good sport about being pulled in her sled while we skated and watching the kids go down the slide. But I'm not sure she is in love with the cold! What a fun family day!
