NYC
I went to NYC for the weekend with my very best Vermont friend (who is moving away from me in 2 weeks. Boo.) Her sister and her sister's friend met us there and it was a terrific weekend.
We drove to a friend's place to park and then walked to the train
and then found our hotel. We were there!
And despite the fact that my sister called them grandma shoes, I bought these the day before and they were the best shoes in the world. I have some serious feet/blister problems normally and these shoes were perfect. Love.
It was just my friend and I so we headed over to Chelsea and discovered Chelsea Market. It was so cool and fun to walk around.
Then we walked outside and made our way to the High Line where we walked, enjoyed the views, and ate some tacos.
After a while we headed back into Chelsea Market and met up with our friends for some dinner.
Then we headed back to the hotel for a long night of staying up late, eating snacks and talking. What more could you want?
The next day was supposed to be rainy so we decided museums would be a safe bet. So we headed over to the MOMA. We didn't want to pay to go in so we checked out the gift shops and I cruised the highlights.
Then we walked through Central Park and up to the Met to see just a bit of what they had there.
Then I took my first Taxi ride ever towards dinner.
At first we thought we would try Carnegie Deli but then we decided none of our tummies were feeling terrific and we thought something more familiar would be better.
And then we headed into Times Square. And after carrying around our umbrellas all day long, they finally came in handy! And boy did they, it was quite the rain storm!! We ducked into a Duane Reade to wait it out. Luckily it didn't last long!
We picked up some at Jamba...yum....
Then headed in to see Newsies
It was amazing. I have loved Newsies since I first saw it in the 4th grade and I have probably seen it 1,231 times. I probably could quote the movie word for word and I worried that the changes they made to it for Broadway would bug me too much to enjoy it. But it was still completely amazing from the story to the songs to the dancing. Really, it was amazing.
After the show we went and got some ice cream and then headed home
Sunday morning was Mother's Day and I got to wake up and find a quiet place in the hotel and talk to these fun kids. They had even packed me a package full of cards to open and I felt loved. There is nothing like being apart from your kids and your day to day care giving to really feel like a blessed mommy!
Then we headed over to Dylan's Candy Bar to explore and get some souvenirs for our kids.
And then we said goodbye to our friends and Melissa and I headed over to Grand Central to catch the train home.
We got home early enough that I got to still see my kids, give them big hugs and kisses and give them their candy.
I love NYC! Who else wants to go explore it with me?
