Sawyer's ER visit number 5

We had some of Kate's favorite friends over for an after school play date one day, which doesn't happen too often.  The kids were so excited and the time flew by.   After a while their mom came and while we chatted on the couch the kids came down the stairs.  I saw Sawyer at the bottom of the stairs standing on a riding toy of Clara's and I told him to get down but he must not have heard me in all the fun commotion because the next thing I knew it slipped out from under him and he hit his head on the stairs.  I went and picked him up and hugged him but I didn't realize it was bleeding until I noticed my cheek felt wet.  I covered it with a tissue and then realized it was bleeding quite a bit...as head injuries do.  I'm not great at looking at these things but my friend looked at it and saw the little cut and agreed that I should probably take him to the ER.  Sawyer was pretty hysterical this whole time so I threw him in the car, Kate got to extend her play date by going to her friend's house, and I dropped Clara off at another friend's house.  By the time Sawyer was in the car and I started a movie for him he calmed down.  There was no wait in the ER and, of course, his head had stopped bleeding by the time we got there and I wondered if I overreacted and shouldn't have brought him in or what.  Like I said, I'm not good at these things!  But they saw him and decided to put a staple in to help it heal.  He had this same thing done when he was 2 and he didn't move an inch.  This time when the staple went in he started crying and telling me how much that hurt.  Poor kid.  But now its all healed and better!  And he promised me no more staples in his head.

This next picture is a little bloody but not too scary.
