artistic letters

Kate had painted the day before so we used some of her pieces of art as stationary.

This is her letter to Devin:Dear Devin,
I got in the shower and used my mom's gel. I said the prayer in primary. Love, Kate

Here is her letter to Jesse:
When we got out Jesse's she said, "I want to just write my own letters now." and she wrote all of those pretend letters while telling Jesse lots of funny things. Hopefully he gets the message...somehow!

Dear Uncle Jesse....

In light of our Uncle Jesse reporting the the Mission Training Center to begin his 2 year mission in Milwaukee Wisconsin, our family home evening on Monday night focused on missionaries and writing Jesse letters. Here is what Kate came up with:
I think it was a successful night.
Sawyer also came up with a new trick yesterday. Usually when I try and take a picture of him, he will not look at me for anything. It doesn't matter what kind of weird noises or talking I'm doing, he will not make eye contact. and he most definitely doesn't smile. I get something like this:
well yesterday I was trying to take a picture of Kate and telling her to look at me and smile. I took the picture, went to lower my camera, and saw Sawyer in the corner of my eye making a face. pretty funny....but probably a fluke. Then I get out the camera again for FHE and I'm telling Kate to say cheese and I look over and Sawyer is making the same face:

Here's to hoping this new trick doesn't stick.

K is for Kate

I need to give Kate the opportunity for art projects more often because she really loves them. She is definitely her mother's daughter in that respect! When I saw this I couldn't resist having it be our family home evening activity. She is so proud of it!
Any more ideas for summer art projects?

pumpkins and spiders

we were coloring for FHE tonight and I was really impressed by kate's drawings. this is the first time she has ever followed my verbal directions to draw something other than squiggles. not that I don't enjoy her squiggles...I was just really impressed!

she's got pumpkins and spiders down!
