Kate's first field trip
Kate's class went on a field trip to a local farm to pick apples and Mrs Bradley asked me if I could come help out. When Kate heard I was coming she made me promise not to sit by her on the bus because she wanted to sit by her friend Farren. (sniff sniff) But I promised. That morning instead of dropping her off, I sat in the corner and watched her do her thing at school, hanging up her backpack and putting her lunch where it goes. It was fun watching her with the other kids at the morning station tables. In no time at all it was time to ride the bus. This is what Kate has been so excited for, ever since she rode the bus at the orientation day she has been asking when she can ride it again. She held hands with her friend Farren and they sat together a few seats in front of me. Kate's friend Casey decided I was pretty cool and she wanted to sit by me and we talked the whole way there. Once at the farm we had a tour, picked a few raspberries, learned about some things they do to grow apples and then each kid got to pick a bag. I was assigned 4 kids to be in charge of, one of which was Kate. She wasn't too embarrassed by me and we had a fun little group. One girl was named Tessa and is one of Kate's favorite friends. There was also a boy named Eddie who was very sweet, looked a lot like Edward Scissorhands...minus the scissors....just pale and crazy, wild, curly dark hair, who couldn't keep his hands off my belly. He kept patting it or hugging it or laying his head on it. It was quite hilarious. After each kid filled a bag full of apples and ate one for a snack it was time to get back on the bus and ride home. I asked Kate if I could sit in the same chair as both her and Farren because there would be enough room for me...and she said no again. So I sat by my tummy loving pal, Eddie, who ended up falling asleep on the way home. After we got back they headed straight to recess and I watched Kate and Farren walk hand in hand all the way there. It was quite adorable.
